Help us help our neighbors by volunteering with the Tri-State Food Pantry.
We are always seeking strong backs and giving hearts for the following tasks:
Packing boxes on the Wednesday before the first Friday of each month. Packing begins at 1 pm.
Distributing boxes on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month and bagging produce on those days prior to distribution
Volunteers to operate the satellite location at West Brow Fire Hall on Lookout Mountain on first Fridays of the month
Our volunteers help break apart the larger boxes and bags of perishable and non-perishable food that we receive in bulk from our suppliers, so it is helpful to be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds. On distribution days volunteers load packed boxes along with produce and frozen items into our clients' vehicles.
We ask that all of our volunteers understand the following rules before you begin working with us.
The identities of food box recipients must remain confidential
Our clients are treated with respect and without discrimination.
We appreciate our volunteers, but because of USDA, and other Federal regulations, all commodities may be distributed only to those who are qualified to receive a box.
Unauthorized removal of any food items may cause Tri-State Food Pantry to lose our contract to purchase those commodities. Therefore persons removing food other than their prequalified box will be asked to not return.
Volunteers must sign the Volunteer Confidentiality form you can download from here.
